Department of General Studies and Behavioral Sciences
The practicum is the field education component of the social work program. It provides an applied learning opportunity in a social service setting. The practicum is different from classroom learning because it is more direct, immediate and personal. The practicum experience helps students link the social work courses to direct social work practice. The practicum occurs under the combined supervision of a designated social work supervisor in the agency and the practicum placement coordinator from the University’s Social Science department.
